Easy, flavorful beef tacos made with seasoned ground beef, fresh toppings, and soft or crispy tortillas. Perfect for a quick dinner or a fun taco night.

Ingredients (4 servings)

For the beef filling:

  • 500 g (1 lb) ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • ½ teaspoon oregano
  • ½ cup tomato sauce or 3 tablespoons tomato paste
  • ½ cup water

For serving:

  • 8 taco shells or small tortillas
  • Shredded lettuce
  • Diced tomatoes
  • Grated cheese
  • Sour cream
  • Fresh cilantro
  • Lime wedges

Instructions

1. Cook the beef
Heat the olive oil in a pan over medium heat.
Add the chopped onion and cook for 3 minutes.
Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute.
Add the ground beef and cook until fully browned, breaking it apart with a spoon.

2. Season the meat
Add salt, pepper, paprika, cumin, chili powder, and oregano.
Stir well to coat the meat with the spices.

3. Add the sauce
Pour in the tomato sauce and water.
Reduce heat and let the mixture simmer for 5–7 minutes until thickened.
Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.

4. Warm the tortillas
Heat the taco shells or tortillas in a dry pan or in the oven for a few minutes.

5. Assemble
Fill each tortilla with the beef mixture.
Top with lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, sour cream, cilantro, or anything you like.

Tips

  • Add jalapeños for heat.
  • Swap beef for chicken or turkey for a lighter version.
  • Add corn or black beans to the filling for extra texture.
